Malawi is this year’s host of the African Smart Cities Congress (ASCC), a transformative annual gathering dedicated to addressing the critical urban challenges facing the African continent through digitalization. The ASCC will be held from July 25 to 27, 2024 along with the Global Innovation Smart Cities Excellence Awards (GISCEA) a prestigious ceremony recognizing outstanding contributors in innovations, technologies, smart urban mobility, and various other categories across the globe.

MACRA has since partnered with the African Smart Cities Innovation Foundation (ASCIF) in the organisation of the congress. The two, represented by MACRA Director General, Daud Elvin Suleman and ASCIF Ambassador in Malawi Christine Mhone, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at a ceremony held in Lilongwe.
